 What is Micro-Pure II

Micro-Pure II is a technology breakthrough for the filter industry, offering a new standard in protection from microbes. Everpure’s original Micro-Pure® filters already provided consumers with an unmatched level of chlorine reduction, odor removal and sub-micron particle capture. Enhancing upon this already popular technology, the new Micro-Pure® II filter makes use of NSF award winning AgION™ silver-based antimicrobial, which ensures the best system performance for a greater length of time. This technology is:

  • Safe – reviewed and registered by EPA, FDA and NSF
  • Effective – shown to prevent bacteria growth on media
  • Long lasting – built into the media for lifetime protection
Filters and Bacteria
Filters can be a good place for bacteria to grow because there is plenty of water, they can feed on the organics present, and filters are dark and warm. While most of these bacteria do not pose a health hazard, they can cause problems for drinking water and filters:
  • Bacteria released into the filtered water affect taste, odor and appearance
  • Downstream biofilm build-up and fouling can decrease filter effectiveness by:
    • Reducing absorption
    • Causing premature clogging, thus shortening the life of the filter
As bacteria reproduce and accumulate within a filter, they create what is called biofilm. Biofilm is a slime growth that accumulates on the filter membrane.

The addition of AgION antimicrobials creates an environment where bacteria cannot grow. AgION is a compound of naturally-occurring silver bonded to a ceramic material that is completely inert. AgION is safe and proven:
  • Based on naturally-occurring silver
  • Harmless to humans. Less toxic than table salt
  • Won NSF’s Food Safety Leadership Award
  • Features broad regulatory approvals
    • NSF Certified
    • EPA
    • FDA
    • Europe Biocidal Products Directive 98/88/EC
    • European Food Safety Agency
Through a controlled release of low levels of silver, AgION silver ions attack multiple targets in the microbe to prevent it from growing to a destructive population. This tri-modal action fights cell growth in three ways:
  1. Prevents respiration by inhibiting transport functions in the cell wall
  2. Inhibits cell division (reproduction)
  3. Disrupts cell metabolism
Micro-Pure II

AgION Antimicrobial is confirmed effective on many types of bacteria, yeast, fungi and mold. View a partial list.

Micro Pure II featuring AgION is an innovation in filter technology and provides:
  1. Reduction of Chlorine, particulates, asbestos fibers and cysts in water.

  2. Safe and effective antimicrobial protection for enhanced filter. Biofilm can’t grow and won’t coat the absorptive surface performance:

  3. Enhanced filter performance
  4. a. More available surface for the filter to use during its lifetime
    b. Longer life

  5. An answer to growing public concern.

  6. NSF certifications 53
  7. a. Cyst Reduction
    b. Asbestos Reduction
    c. Turbidity Reduction

  8. NSF Standard 42 – Mechanical
  9. a. Particulate Reduction, Class I

  10. NSF Standard 42
  11. a. Taste & Odor Reduction
    b. Chlorine Reduction

Together, Micro-Pure II and AgION set a new standard for water quality.
